Teflon (PTFE) coated fiberglass sewing thread has been tested at temperatures of -204°C to 538° C and it will not burn. It is unaffected when exposed to most acids, alkalis and solvents, and has high tensile strength.

Teflon (PTFE) coated fiberglass sewing thread is used in fiberglass filter bags as well as sewing operations where a high temperature, inorganic, flexible, and high strength thread is required. It may also be used for contract furniture, insulation blankets and heater cable devices.
